In my last post, I mentioned going back to my Lelutka head. Then came the hunt for a new skin. My last “regular” skin was from Lara Hurley. I think their skins are perfection! But everyone has strengths and weaknesses in their designs and theirs is no exception. They excel at skins for redheads and blondes, but I wanted to get back to my brunette looks with a moderately tanned skin that looked true to tone. I hunted around for hours in vain, even trying on other Lelutka heads in an effort to mix and match.
But then I remembered Pink Fuel. I absolutely LOVE their cosmetics– one of their lipstick packs I use for my everyday wear– and I knew they had a few skins in the store. I knew I’d found a winner when I tried on the Anja skins.
In real life, I NEVER wear yellow. My skin has an olive cast and frankly, the color makes me look green. That’s not the best skin color for anyone except maybe a Martian. This made me shy away from wearing yellow in SL, but I’m learning that yellow is a great color against my current favorite skin.
The dress I wore yesterday to the real estate office is so attractive, I wanted to feature it. The fabric feels oh-so soft against my skin. The lace trim on the deep neckline and hem are just the right touch of femininity. The belt, shown here in brown, has a small color change HUD. Not too short or revealing, the dress is perfect for the office or a dinner date.
The dress is available at Decoy and comes in 16 colors. 200L each or 1200L for the fatpack.
I got this dress with a gift card from Decoy as a reward for filling out a survey.
I was digging through my closet, looking at hair I hadn’t worn in years. I came across this cute style by Argrace called Hatsune. The style is a perky chin length cut with wisps the move in the breeze. The braided front is held in place by a colorful scarf, which was a perfect spot of color for my little black dress.
Alas, it seems that Argrace has discontinued selling their older hair. The large store where this photo was taken has a few newer mesh styles.
“We should indeed keep calm in the face of difference, and live our lives in a state of inclusion and wonder at the diversity of humanity.”
I got an invitation to a party. The dress code said “Rainbow”.
Initally, I was a bit taken aback. I have very little in my wardrobe that is rainbow hued. I’ve been a bit afraid to wear rainbows, as I am straight. To me, it felt like appropriating the dress of another culture without permission.
But tonight, I was asked to be a rainbow. And I thought hard about what that means to me. It means standing up for what is right. It means supporting my LGBTQ friends. It means standing in the light of the rainbow, arm in arm with those I love in both worlds. It means I KNOW that diversity is what makes the world a better place to live in, and speaking out about my beliefs is the right thing to do.
When I read about the SL 16B Photo Challenge, I knew I wanted to do more than just take a photo. I wouldn’t be in Second Life for almost thirteen years were it not for the people in it with me. I wanted to pay tribute to the friends that make my Second Life special. These are the friends that I share funny “only in SL” moments with, and the ones who are there when I need a good cry.
“Mellwyn” shares this blog with me. I don’t share well (ask my rl husband LOL), so this is a huge deal and a giant leap of friendship. This photo is dedicated to her and two other very dear friends, Kylie Quinn and Sylvi, with whom I’ve shared so much — laughter and tears and everything in between. I want to thank them for their unwavering friendship, kindness, generosity and support.
Hat, Flag, Lanyard — Linden SL 16B gifts, located in the Welcome Area.
I shopped until I dropped from L A G at the SL 16B event in Second Life. Of course, I had to pick up all of the marvelous group gifts. It was like Christmas in June! I have yet to open all of them — maybe I will by SL 17B!
I did pause at a few of my favorite designers’ shops to make some heavily discounted purchases. (There are some amazing deals at SL 16B.) I decided that the best way to show off this gorgeous hair and makeup is with a little bit of moonlight.
